Milos (pronounced mee-losh) is a Sydney based professional photographer who was born in the former Czechoslovakia and whose style is heavily influenced by his European heritage.

As a child growing up in Slovakia Milos was fascinated by the Old Masters, inspired by their incomparable ability to play with chiaroscuro, or the treatment of light and shade, on canvas. He quickly realised that his own talent did not lie with a paintbrush so when as a child, he was gifted an old Russian film camera from his father, it was a revelation.

Milos took his camera when he left Slovakia at the age of 19 and backpacked around the world for six years, working as, amongst other things, a mixologist and a chef but when he found himself in Australia he knew he wanted to tread a different path, so once again he turned to his camera.

Photography has become an all-consuming passion for Milos. He has a unique eye for detail and great locations, as well as an innate understanding of light. He also has a great respect for the team of people behind every shoot “Every aspect of a shoot is equally important. It is a collaboration from start to finish. We begin with the light because for me a photograph lives or dies by how it is lit. Once I am happy with the light, then the hair stylists, make-up artists and fashion styling get together to work their magic. Then it’s down to the model and me: with every shot, my aim is to tell a beautiful story, to capture the viewer’s imagination, and draw them into the world of the photograph. It’s more than just photography: it is art, it is poetry it is beauty”

Recent campaigns include work for Longines, Max Factor, L’Oreal, Toyota, BMW, Bombay Sapphire, QVB, LG, Optus, Virgin, Bundaberg, Australian Institute of Fitness, National Art School, Westpac, Bras n’ Things and Australian Fashion Week.

His work has been featured in several local and international magazines including Vogue Italia, PagesDigital, The Journal, Laud, Culture magazine, Images, Institute magazine, Fashionising and Cream.
